Work Here, Wave Goodbye to a LONG COMMUTE

What’s worse – being stuck at work an extra hour to finish a project, or heading home only to find your train has a 60+ minute delay, causing your 1 hour commute to become a 2+ hour commute? I’d go with the former…rather put extra time in at the office to finish a project than be prepared to head home only to find out I’m stranded for an hour AT LEAST.

This is all too familiar for New Jersey commuters who head into New York City daily. Especially with the latest NJ Transit delays causing thousands to be stuck at Penn Station. To add to the frustration, NJ Transit posted on their website “effective immediately and continuing until further notice, there will be 15-minute delays to and from Penn Station on weekdays and 30-minute delays on weekends due to Amtrak track maintenance work and track inspections.”

On average, a New Jersey commuter spends about 3 hours a day, or 15 hours a week commuting to and from New York City. With delays such as the ones that commuters experienced last night, their commute can be 2+ hours home, making it a 4 hour commute a day. For years we’ve been told the best opportunities are in New York City. So many New Jersey residents head into the city day-in and day-out to make a fair salary, only to end up paying double taxes. However, that’s not the case anymore.
